CyberShake Data Access - CARC
Description
Description
The CyberShake Data Access application retrieves CyberShake data products — site information, event information, intensity measures, and seismograms — from SCEC's CyberShake platform, which produces physics-based, deterministic ground motion simulations for sites throughout California.
Data products and metadata are retrieved through database queries. Seismograms are downloaded from Globus-hosted storage collections hosted at USC CARC. Requests run on Expanse retrieve seismograms from these USC CARC-hosted collections.
Using the form, users select a CyberShake study (e.g. Study 22.12 or Study 24.8, in low-frequency or broadband variants), a data product, and optional filters — site name, source name, magnitude, intensity-measure period and value, and site–rupture distance — along with sort options. Requested data are written to the job's outputs directory as CSV files. Seismogram downloads are capped at 10 GB per request. Note that the seismograms product is available for Study 22.12 only.
Alternatively, a request can be driven by an event list instead of selecting events through the form's event filters: upload a CSV file containing one event per line as <src id>,<rup id>,<rup var id> triples (up to 120,000 events, no header row). The listed events — identified by source id, rupture id, and rupture-variability id — are then used in combination with any other filters selected in the form, such as site name and intensity-measure period and value, which continue to constrain the results. Event filters (source name, magnitude, site–rupture distance) may still be supplied and will further narrow the listed events, though the tool warns that combining them with an event list is not something the interactive tool does.
